robWho am I? Robin Brown - Chairman

Why did I become a trustee? After volunteering for a number of years, I thought I could add something extra as a trustee

What was the first project you were involved in? I was a driver on the 1st Aid trip, the first project was a year later in Bucharest in 1998.

What TEECH means to me? TEECH gives me a valuable chance to give something back to society.

What has been your highlights of working with the charity? Every year is a Highlight for me as it gives me the chance to meet and work with some wonderful people and help improve the lives of those less fortunate than us. Try it the rewards are enormous seeing the smiles on the faces of those we help is priceless

gemmaWho am I?  gemma Lewis - Charity Secretary

Why did I become a trustee? When I first got involved with TEECH back in 2007 it was because I wanted to try something different and I found the voluntary work very rewarding indeed.  This was noticed by the other trustees and when they asked me to help more in the running of the charity I jumped at the chance.

What was the first project you were involved in? Targu Frumas "2007 Project"

What TEECH means to me? Charity work for TEECH has made me realise just how lucky I am and with a small charity you can really see where your money goes.

What has been your highlights of working with the charity?  Organising the first and extremely sucessfull Teech Masquerade Ball and Disco in 2008 and subsequent events and getting back into drawing and painting murals after years of this childhood skill of mine being redundant!!

Robert Standly - TreasurerWho am I?

Robert Standley - Treasurer trustee

Why did I become a trustee?

In 1998 Vic Tallowin advertised on the BT intranet to raise interest in an aid trip to Bucharest in Romania.  A small committee was formed and I volunteered to be treasurer of 'BTRL Aid to Romania'.  When we registered TEECH as a charity I became a trustee.

What was the first project you were involved in ?

We renovated dilapidated wards in two Bucharest hospitals in 1998.

 What TEECH means to me?

TEECH provides the mechanism for volunteers to use their skills and enthusiasm to make a difference to the lives of some of the poorest people in Europe.

What has been your highlights of working with the charity?

Hard to say.  Some of the most life changing work has been the provision of clean, tiled toilet and shower facilities. One of the encouraging experiences has been to see how initially suspicious and apparently unfriendly patients on a Bucharest cancer ward transformed into willing co-workers by the end of our week amongst them.

beckiWho am I? Becki Taylor - Welfare trustee

Why did I become a trustee? After a number of trips with the charity I was asked to become a trustee. During the day I work in community welfare so it seemed I would be well qualified for the welfare trustee job! I was honoured to be asked and could not wait to get further involved.

What was the first project you were involved in? My first project was TEECH's first trip to Moldova. We went towork on an orphanage/school to improve dorms and provide physical therapy spaces.

What TEECH means to me? TEECH means so much to me. I truly believe in the work that we do. Everything from the second hand clothes people donate to the money people collect goes to those in need. Each project is unique and an exciting new challenge but each one follows two key ideas. Firstly that we work with locals to not only make improvements but teach them skills and leave them the tools so they can continue the work. Secondly we as volunteers have fun while doing good usually know as 'work hard and play hard'!

What has been your highlights of working with the charity? I have stared at this question for ages! How do you answer this? We have taken Christmas presents to children who have never had a gift in their life. We have burst into a room dressed as Santa on their Christmas day. We have installed toilets and showers for children, disabled and abled bodied, who previously had to use a hole and bucket. We have taken medical supplies to hospitals desperately in need. I could go on! Oh and I have some of the most amazing times of my life, and met some strangers on day one who have turned out to be some of my closest friends.
