Interested in Volunteering?   "Volunteering is defined as any activity that involves spending time, unpaid, doing something which aims to benefit the environment or individuals or groups other than (or in addition to) close relatives."  Volunteering England Information Sheet 2008. All we ask is that volunteers raise a minimum of £500 in fundraising. This money goes towards funding the project and covers your travel expenses like the coach trip there and back, insurance to work abroad, accommodation and food whilst on location.

TEECH 2011 Shoe Box Appeal  Following the massive sucess of our previous two shoe box appeals we are again collecting shoeboxes to deliver to some of the poorest parts of Eastern Europe. The orphanges, familes, hopsitals and retirement homes cannot believe the generousity and the shoeboxes are often the first christmas present they have ever had. As with the previous appeals TEECH volunteers travel to Eastern Europe arriving on Christmas Day which means we are able to collect shoe boxes until around the middle of December which means you can save lots on the Christmas deals in the shops. Donations in 2010 helped... To turn a dis-used classroom into to 2 toilets/washrooms; one each for boys and girls.  On arrival the team set about pulling up the existing wooden floor and dividing the large room into 2 smaller ones.  This was done by using timber struts and plaster board and a new doorway was cut into the main corridor so as they each had a separate entrance.

Donations in 2009 helped... The TEECH 2009 Project was to help restore a wing in the Robert Cole Centre, a school for special needs children that was damaged in a fire. While on location it was brough to our attention of a group of homeless people who were living in a adjacent wing with no toilets or running water. Some of the big achievements made possible by donations obtained during the year... Repair the computer wing Clean and decorate the stair way Repair showers for the children Install a toilet for the homeless people (photo)

vicWho am I? Vic Tallowin  - Vice Chairman of Teech

Why did I become a trustee? I am one of the few founder members and started going to Romania 2 years before the first trip utilising a BT lorry. It was two years after the trip with BT and as they were so successful a number of the original crew (including myself) decided to make things a bit more formal and setup the charity TEECH.

What was the first project you were involved in? Taking a coach that was donated to a village near Craiova to ferry the old folk to and from Craiova.

What TEECH means to me? TEECH is a means to enable a number of volunteers make a better future (in some cases provide a future) for those less fortunate than ourselves. 

What has been your highlights of working with the charity? Each year meeting with and then seeing the huge joy on the faces of the people we have helped but on top of that there is also the bonds created with the volunteers that go each year.
