TEECH charity is interested in hearing from any of its volunteers regarding what they have been upto and any information they have on Eastern Europe.
Two volunteers (Danny and Aliona) have recently returned from a trip to Moldova and were shocked by the medical conditions available to its citizens. These are the types of projects TEECH consider on a yearly basis to help and I'm sure this will be on the list...
How lucky we are - A true story (supplied by Danny)
Whilst my wife and I were visiting her family my wife learned that a nabours daughter had just had a baby and as we were the “Nanashas” (Witness’s) at their wedding we were asked to visit their daughter so my wife & I went to the Maternity & Gynaecology Hospital.
Whilst there my wife met a woman she knew from her village who had recently given birth to a boy, She was in a room with 3 other mothers and 5 babies along with Beds, Cots, two small cupboards for them to share. The room is about 16x12 ft (5mx4m) with no washing facilities on their floor as they are broken. I was informed that there are many more rooms the same on this floor.
Should you need to use the wash rooms etc (at night take a torch)!! The nearest is down two flights of unlit stairs and along a dimly lit corridor.
ALL bed linen, all baby clothes, food, equipment is supplied by yourself (no money no help)
Although the staff at the Hospital are all very proud & dedicated and do their upmost to keep the hospital as clean as they can & try to help the mothers and babies as much as possible.
We had to put on smocks, hats & overshoe covers before passing reception. (Which we had to buy) or you don’t come in.
But there’s a limit you can do with a hospital that’s 40+ years old & had hardly if any help since the 1990’s when then Soviets left.
Whilst there we learnt that the lady in the pictures had had a baby three days earlier but had yet been too weak to take care of the baby. And needed some glucose but could not afford this & and the other medication (so we anonymously helped) and as you can see in the pictures one shows a drip being used. This lady along with the others on this floor all had caesarean births
TEECH have been very lucky to have had donated new beds and now some mattress’s we shall now also be visiting this maternity hospital in Balti (Beltsy), so any bottles, cots, nappies, powdered milk, maternity wear etc for Babies, (Children or Adults) Bed linen, Pillow, Blankets, Smocks, Aprons, Syringes, Wheel chairs, Commodes, other various medical supplies, Hospital Furniture ANY and ALL types of Hospital/Medical equipment we would be extremely interested in hearing from anybody who can help supply an ambulance or a Mini Amblu-bus.
Most out of date Bandages, swabs & various other medical supplies can also be accepted. Please help support Balti Hospital and TEECH by asking your friends, colleagues and family to pass this on others.
TEECH is a non-profit organisation and is made up of volunteers (no paid staff) and work extremely hard to ensure 100% of all donations go towards the unavoidable yearly running costs of our charity and direct to the projects we support!
